| Teaching and Scholarship: |
The candidate's primary area of teaching and scholarship will be the interaction between communication media and society, with a strong emphasis on new and emerging media and technologies.
The candidate is expected to develop a substantial research program based in social and/or behavioral science theories and rooted in empirical research methods. A strong background in quantitative research methods is desirable.
Teaching opportunities will be in both undergraduate and graduate courses. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester. Summer teaching appointments are often available.
An interest in obtaining external funding for research is expected. Released time is available based on grant research productivity.

| Required: |
Ph.D. in Telecommunication or a related field, e.g., Information Studies, Communication, Mass Communication, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science. Those completing their dissertation also will be considered. Evidence of scholarship and teaching ability required.

The Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media at Michigan State University is a thriving place of scholarship, teaching, and public service.
